$285,000 worth of drugs seized in dawn operation

Two suspected drug traffickers and one suspected drug abuser were arrested in an operation on 9 February 2010. Approximately 1.2kg of heroin no.3, 340 grammes of ‘Ice’, 2.8 grammes of Ketamine and 331 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets with a total street value of more than S$285,000 were seized. Two Singapore-registered cars and cash of S$22,159 were also seized in the operation.

In Jan 2010, CNB received information of a drug trafficker operating in the vicinity of Geylang. On 8 Feb 2010, an operation was launched to arrest the trafficker and his associates. On 9 February 2010 at about 0025 hours at Minto Road, a suspected male drug abuser was arrested with 3 packets of heroin no.3 on him. At 0030 hours, another party of CNB officers arrested the suspected drug trafficker at the junction of Sims Way and Geylang Road. Some drugs were recovered from his car.

Finally at about 0245 hours, a third male, suspected to be another drug trafficker was arrested at Mattar Road. CNB officers recovered ‘Ice’ in his possession and from his car. The two traffickers were led to their hideout at Mattar Road where a large quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia and cash were found in the room. In total, approximately 1.2kg of heroin no.3, 340 grammes of ‘Ice’, 2.8 grammes of Ketamine and 331 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets with a total street value of more than S$285,000 were seized from the entire operation.

All are male Singaporeans aged between 42 to 49 years old and unemployed. The trio will be investigated for drug related offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act. If convicted, the two drug traffickers may face the death penalty.
