Two suspected drug traffickers and 5 suspected drug abusers were arrested in an operation on 6 May 2010. Approximately 2.1kg of heroin no.3 with an estimated value of S$320,000 and cash S$11,000 were seized.

In March 2010, CNB received information on a drug trafficker who was ordering drug consignments directly from a drug supplier based in a neighbouring country. Intensive follow-up investigations established that the drug trafficker was ordering sizeable consignments and that he had a trusted runner who will receive the drugs on his behalf.

On 6 May 2010, at approximately 1700hrs, information was received that the trafficker was expecting a fresh consignment of heroin from his overseas drug supplier. An operation was immediately launched to arrest the trafficker and his runner.

At approximately 1840hrs, both the drug runner and drug trafficker were arrested at the trafficker’s residence at Jalan Tenteram. The drug runner had just delivered the consignment when arrested. The bag which the runner was carrying was found to contain 8 bundles of heroin no.3, weighing approximately 1.9kg. A search of the premises uncovered another 20 packets of heroin no.3 weighing approximately 230g and ‘Ice’ weighing approximately 3.3g. Cash of $11,000 believed to be drug proceeds was also recovered from the premises.

The duo are male Singaporeans and unemployed. Both persons will be investigated for drug trafficking under the Misuse of Drugs Act. If convicted, the two may face the death penalty.
