On 20 May 2010 at about 3.00pm, CNB received information that the suspected drug trafficker would be receiving a fresh consignment of drugs from the overseas drug syndicate later in the evening. An operation was immediately launched.


Arrest of suspected drug trafficker

On 20 May 2010 at about 8.40pm, CNB officers spotted the suspected drug trafficker leaving his flat in Bishan in a Singapore-registered car. At about 8.55pm, the suspected drug trafficker stopped his car along Bishan Road towards Braddell Road. Shortly after the suspected drug trafficker stopped his car, the driver of a Malaysia-registered car parked along the same road emerged from his car with a green plastic bag. He was seen entering the car of the suspected drug trafficker. About 5 minutes later, the man emerged from the Singapore-registered car and returned to his own car. Both men then drove away in their respective cars.

At about 9.10pm, the suspected drug trafficker was arrested in his Singapore-registered car at the junction of Henderson Road and Jalan Bukit Merah. A search was conducted in the car and 3 bundles of heroin no. 3 weighing approximately 960g and 2 packets of ‘Ice’ weighing approximately 110g were seized. At about 11.30pm, a search was conducted at the suspected drug trafficker’s flat in Bishan, where two stun-guns were seized.


Arrest of suspected drug courier

At about 9.35pm, the driver of the Malaysia-registered car was arrested in his car by another team of CNB officers at the vicinity of Kallang Way. A search was conducted in the car and 3 bundles containing 500 Erimin-5 tablets, 1 bundle containing 2 packets of ketamine weighing about 76g and 1 packet of ‘Ice’ weighing about 40g were seized.

The duo will be investigated for drug trafficking under the Misuse of Drugs Act. If convicted, the two may face the death penalty.
